JEERING onlookers goaded a teenager in Britain to jump to his death, undermining police efforts to
talk him down, and then took pictures of the body.
Saturday the27th september as 17-year-old Shaun Dykes prepared to jump from the top of a
multi-storey carpark in Derby, northern England, spectators allegedly shouted to him: "How far can
you bounce?", the UK's MailOnline reports.
As Mr Dykes hesitated for three hours on the ledge while police unsuccessfully tried to reason him
out of taking his life, teenagers who had gathered below shouted "Jump" and "Get on with it",
according to police and witnesses.
Then after Mr Dykes lay in a crumpled heap on the pavement the same hecklers rushed out from behind
the police cordon to take photos of the body.
"When he (Dykes) fell, lots of people were screaming and crying but there were several groups of
youths who ran from behind the cordon and looked like they were taking pictures with their mobile
phones," a local shopkeeper was quoted as telling the MailOnline.
"I found that sickening - why would anyone want to take pictures of something like that?"
Mr Dykes was believed to have been suffering from depression and struggling to overcome a
relationship breakdown.
Superintendent Andy Hough, of Derbyshire police, said he was disappointed and disturbed by the
people heard encouraging Mr Dykes to jump.
"I find it a disturbing and shocking reflection on society when people feel inclined to do that,"
Supt Hough told the MailOnline.
"Negotiators were working with the man threatening to jump and it was their job to talk to him in
the hope of changing his mind.
"We really need the public to work with us, not against us. It was a very disappointing situation."

forgotten by anyone that knew you as you touched a special place in people hearts that knew you for
many different reasons they have memories of you that will never fade xx When the Sun is Shining
they will think of your gorgeous smile and the fun times you gave everyone who knew you xx And when
the Brightest Star is Shining they will know you are Resting Peacefully but watching over your
family and loved ones and all who knew you xx But one thing we do know you are safe, well, and too
good for this world Shaun keep a watch over your loving family and friends give them strength to
ease the pain of losing someone so special xx Thinking of you all xxx

My heart goes out to Shaun and his family left behind. I know what it's like to lose a child as I lost my only Daughter last year. She was brutally murdered whilst in her room at University by Jason Webster from Leeds.
The sickos who took photos haven't got a conscience or a soul If it was their Brother, Cousin etc. would they be so eager to do it then? God doesn't pay his debts with money - they will have to answer for it one day.

What is happening!
Such a sad, sad loss. Unfortunatly i did not know Shaun, however i do know how it feels to be depressed and how it feels to loose someone through suicide.
When i heard this story on the news, i was at work and i just froze. Such a sad loss and such a disgraceful group of people who prompted this suicide. I feel fo the family of Shaun, his friends and hope they can, in time, find that the pain eases.
For the people who did this to Shaun, i hope your feeling the worst guilt possible and i hope tou feel this way for the rest of your sorry little lives. Lets just hope you dont coax one of your family members to commit suicide. Your sick!

I suffer depression as well and know what it is like. People can be very spiteful and I know now that you will be at peace and not have to suffer these nasty taunts ever again. i would of screamed at them for being such evil and twisted people, i cant believe how sick some people are in this world ?? !!!
i dont know shaun but i would of tried to help shaun the best i could as i suffer from depression and i know what its like when the darkness takes over .. its smothering .
i feel sick to my stomuch hearing he lost his life and hearing people jeering him on were prob the last words he heard , its so so sad !!
